While we've had a mild winter - its still been dreary and cold. Spring is in the air! That means warmer days, longer days and getting back outdoors! We're fortunate to be surrounded by nature - offering many things to do from just getting outside and moving around to more intense workouts.

The launch point where the Delaware River and Lehigh Rivers meet is super convenient. Its easy to park downtown and drag your kayak or canoe to the launch point. You can get out of the river at Wy Hit Tuk Park on 611. So stash a car there to drive back up! Check out our accessories to make your water adventure even better! There are so many beautiful outdoor spaces nearby. We mentioned Wy Hit Tuk Park on 611. Activities include Picnicking, hiking, biking, birdwatching, and group camping.You can also access this park from the tow path along the canal.

The tow path along the canal is perfect for bike ride, job or a simple walk. You can access the start of the trail at the Northern Terminus Delaware Canal Trail park, just off of 611. Enjoy scenic views of the Delaware River. This is a unique and fun place to visit. And easy to get too with ample parking at the access point.

And lets not forget the Karl Stirner Arts trail just off of Bushkill Drive. Walk, bike or jog along the trail and get immersed in nature. Make a day of it and walk to the Silk Mill where you can enjoy lunch, ice cream or a drink.

Check out Hackett Park just off of Hackett Ave in Easton. The Wilson and Easton Bike Path can be accessed here. In addition they have a disc golf course for some leisurely fun and exercise.

Looking to really get back to nature? The Poconos is just a quick 30 minute drive up route 33. Enjoy the views and trails at Big Pocono State Park on the top of Camelback Mountain, numerous campgrounds and trails and a must visit is the Columcille Megalith Park: Land of Mysterious Rock Monuments in the Poconos. This is a true experience with a mix of nature, paths and rock outcroppings. Other hiking trails include Shohola Falls Trail, Wallenpaupack Lake Trail, McDade Recreational Trail, Irving Cliff Trail, Lehigh Gorge Trail, Mount Minsi via Appalachian Trail.

Toad & Co. started in 1995 with a store in downtown Telluride. They were an up and coming apparel company  with a purpose. In 1997 they partnered with Search Inc. to found a logistics warehouse called Planet Access Company. The goal was to provide jobs to disabled adults. Toad and Co. provided scraps from the production of their apparel and Planet Access Company would make pillowcases. Toad & Co. was way ahead of the curve - integrating sustainability and a social mission into their business operations.

As the company grew they focused on sustainability. The apparel industry, believe it or not, is in the top five industries that pollute the planet. So they made part of their core mission to minimize their environmental impact and contribute to making the apparel industry a more sustainable one.

With the recent heatwaves it is important to stay Hydrated! Sure, you can have a water bottle on hand, but if you're out biking, hiking, or climbing it's time to take it to the next level.

The Osprey HydraPaks and Osprey Reservoirs make for the perfect companion on a hot day. The HydraPak is designed very efficiently with activity in mind. It won't bounce around on your back, rather it fits snuggly. The shoulder straps are wing shaped and move with you and curve as needed. It fits very comfortably and allows for ventilation.

As the summer approaches, we're getting a taste of the heat and humidity that goes along with it. Since we can't be enshrined in the air conditioning all the time, we have clothing options that will help keep you feeling, and looking, cool.

First up is the Aerobora Short Sleeve Shirt from Marmot. This shirt has AirExchange fabric construction. This performance fabric is exceptionally breathable, which helps you keep cool. If you look closely, you'll see tiny holes that allow air to pass through. This doesn't effective the quality of the shirt – the shirt is still durable and well made. There are flat-felled seams for more durability. This innovation, while small, makes a huge difference. It also makes for a lightweight shirt. In addition, it makes the shirt more strechable so it move with you. And of course, like all of Marmot's clothing, its timelessly stylish.

May is upon us! May has some of the best weather of the year. April rains are gone and the heat and humidity of Summer is still about a month away. May has the perfect balance of weather.

Early mornings in May can still be crisp and cool, but not too cold. This makes for an ideal time for a run, mountain biking session or a hike. You may get hot and sweaty, but the cool morning temps make it bearable. In addition, the peaceful quiet time in the early morning can make your outdoor activities more meditative. It makes for the perfect start to the day. Studies show exercise in the morning has lasting benefits throughout the day and it even helps you sleep better at night.

Cycling and mountain biking make for great May activities as well. The temps never get too high, but still be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. In addition to a great workout, you'll be able to enjoy the scenery as the leaves return to the trees and the flowers bloom. This also provides some much needed shade! The Lehigh Valley has some great trails. Try biking at Hugh Moore Park, The Karl Stirner Arts Trail or the Nor-Bath Trail, to name a few.

Speaking of cycling, the Easton Twilight Criterium returns to downtown Easton on May 28th, 2022. There are categories for every level from children to pros! You can register and learn more here. It's also a fun event to watch. Make a day of it and enjoy all downtown Easton has to offer.

Camping is also a great activity in May. The cool nights are perfect for sitting around the fire and the moderate days make all of your daytime activities enjoyable. The Lehigh Valley starts to bloom along with the flowers when spring time rolls around. Whether you're crossing the bridge from Phillipsburg or taking a trip down from the Poconos, the Lehigh Valley is just a quick drive away.  The valley is loaded with beautiful outdoor trails, known for their scenic views, river activities, history, and more. This blog post will explore some of those trails, so you can plan your next outdoor adventure in the Lehigh Valley!

BETHLEHEM GREENWAY TRAIL

The Bethlehem Greenway Trail is about 1.9 miles long, located in Northhampton, PA. The South Bethlehem Greenway is a linear park that follows a former Norfolk Southern rail line through the southern neighborhoods of Bethlehem. The paved pathway begins just north of Lehigh University and travels about 2 miles east and south to end just outside of Saucon Park. This trail is great for activities such as running, walking, and even biking. You're also able to see the historic  Bethlehem Steel Stacks from the trail. The trail is open year-round. 

MONOCACY WAY

If you're looking for a trail that’s a little bit longer, and quiet, explore this 4.50 mile, loop trail in Bethlehem, PA.  Monocacy way is one of the easier routes, taking an average of 1 h 53 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking, trail running, and walking. This trail is great for kids and dogs because it's mostly shaded by trees. The Monocacy river is parallel to the trail, making it convenient for your pets to grab a drink and cool down! The trail is open year-round! 

D&L TRAIL FREEMANSBURG TRAIL HEAD

The entire D&L trail runs 165-miles. The Freemansburg trailhead is on a historic canal towpath and the trail surface is narrow and in places has rocks and roots. It follows the canal towpath and passes Lock 44 and Lockhouse at the Freemansburg Education Center. Continuing east, the trail also passes Lock 45 and chimney remains of a lockhouse in Bethlehem Township. This trail is known for hiking, walking, running, biking, and bird watching. There are great views of the river from the trail and the wildlife is with you the whole way. The trail is open year-round, but the best times to visit are March through September. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash.

SAUCON RAIL TRAIL

If you're coming to Lehigh Valley for a challenge you must visit the Saucon rail trail. Near Center Valley, Pennsylvania, this 12.6 mile hike takes about 5 hours and 17 minutes to complete. It’s an out and back trail and is considered an easy trail to hike. The Saucon rail trail is known for  hiking, mountain biking, and trail running. It's unlikely you'll encounter other people while exploring, for the trail is less populated compared to others in the Lehigh Valley.  The trail is open year-round, but the best times to visit are March through November.
